Order-ahead without the 30% app tax

Delivery apps make two promises: new customers and less phone chaos. They keep the second one. The first is mostly your own regulars, rerouted through an app that charges you up to 30% for the privilege.

For a family restaurant running lunch-rush margins, 30% isn't a fee — it's the profit. And the app keeps the customer data, so you can't even thank the regular who just paid you through a middleman.

Order-ahead on your own site works differently: a customer opens your menu from Google or a taped-up QR code, pays from their truck at 5:40 AM, the ticket prints in your kitchen, and the food is ready when they walk in. Per-order commission: zero.

The operational win is bigger than the fee math. Phone orders collapse exactly when you're busiest — the 6 AM breakfast rush, the Friday dinner window. Every busy signal is a sale your competitor's hostess answers. Order-ahead moves that demand off the phone line entirely.

It also compounds. Online orders create a customer list you own: names, favorites, frequency. That list is what makes email specials, catering offers, and slow-Tuesday promotions possible without paying anyone rent.

If your restaurant lives on Facebook and a phone line, you don't have an ordering problem — you have a capacity ceiling. Remove it.
